Many facilities, one vision

As a waste-to-energy plant operator, A2A relied on ABB to help meet its emissions targets, such as 97.5% air emission uptime. But with 13 facilities spread throughout the country, each under its own service agreement, the Italian utility struggled to manage a time-consuming and complex maintenance process.

Because each facility was in charge of its own contracts, A2A lacked easy visibility into which ABB services were provided at each site. In addition, the utility no longer wanted to manage many of the technical tasks that required specialized maintenance staff at each facility, such as gas cylinders supply, spare stock management, and backup analyzer maintenance.  By removing silos in the way it approached maintenance, this utility sought to lower the costs of on-site labor and corrective maintenance without impacting service quality.
